Installation instructions
- Download and install the appropriate Galileo (3.5.x) release of the "Eclipse Modeling Tools" package of Eclipse for your operating system. As of September 2010, these packages are available from:
http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/packages/eclipse-modeling-tools-includes-incubating-components/galileosr2
- Download a Gmodel release archive (see available releases below) to a suitable directory.
- Extract the contents of the downloaded Gmodel archive to a suitable directory.
- Launch the Eclipse Modeling Tools software, and add the update site in the updateSite directory contained in the extracted archive as a local site by selecting Help > Install New Software... from the menu. As illustrated in the screen shot below, please untick the box Contact all update sites during install to find required software to avoid potential issues with the Eclipse upgrade software.

- Follow the instructions on screen to install all features and restart the Eclipse Modeling Tools software.
Running the software
- Once Eclipse has restarted, open the Gmodel Containment Tree by selecting it from the main Window menu:
Window > Show View > Other... > Gmodel > click [+] > Containment Tree

It is convenient to drag the newly visible Containment Tree view (in the bottom part of the screen) to the left hand side of your screen. As needed the package Explorer and Hierarchy tabs can be closed to gain screen real estate.

- Click the Retrieve icon on the view toolbar of the Containment Tree.
This populates the Containment Tree view with models and semantic domains from a publicly accessible database.
- Now you can click on any of the items in the Containment Tree to visualise them in a separate pane which appears in the editor area. Note that each visualised item has four tabs (Structure, Scope, Reuse, Details) that contain complementary representations.

- Full text search over the loaded models is also available via the search box at the top of the Containment Tree.
